Trying to install an IS4 to a clifford 650 mk2 . It starts fine in auto mode, but won't start in manual mode. I carry out the safe mode shut down G5G5** the engine stays running and shuts down when system is armed, however when I press the engine start button the indicators only flash once and doesn't start the engine. The car is a 1995 Subaru impreza, handbrake wire is connected and shows negative (0.14) when handbrake is on and live (2v) when released, I have used relays to increase this to 12v, the tach wire is connected and is programmed (2 indicator flashes)
What else is there needed to do or check when setting up manual mode, as it works perfectly fine if I ground the BLACK/ green wire for automatic mode.
Thanks
Ben

Access a service manual or friendly Subie dealer.
On the engine management is a wire labelled something like MTS position sensor. AKA Neutral safety switch, NSS.
Effectively it's a wire that goes NEG only when the gear shift is in neutral.
You can connect your handbrake wire there and ground (earth) the green black and then treat it as an auto.
To prove whether or not your car has this, place gear shift in any gear, foot off clutch and try to start the car.
If the starter doesn't engage then you have it.
Just a point, fitted literally dozens of IS 4/5 over the years, never had any grief.
Have you programmed tach?

Hi Howie, I'm unsure if my car has the neutral switch, I did search for this the other day, my car definatly jumps forward when started in gear, so it's either not working or I haven't got one.
I have programmed the tach wire, and had the double flash to confirm, however I have not done it again since disconnecting the BLACK/ green auto wire, shall I re-programme again?

Are you using the PURPLE / white 650 tach wire or the BLACK/ grey from the I/Start?
You MUST use the BLACK/ grey.
All other duplicated wires such as BROWN / white and BROWN / red, brake and source, use the 650 wires.

I am using the BLACK/ grey wire from IS and have it wired direct to wire on back of instrument panel.
The brake wires are from the main alarm unit.
The IS4 is brand new, and hasn't been connected to cliffnet
Is there anything you can think of I can try in a process of illimination

That's correct. You appear to have done nothing wrong, I'll look at the info shortly.

Sorry just checked 650 programming and I/Start guide, can't find anything wrong.
Try it with the blue/white disconnected since the 650 is already connected via the BROWN / white.
BROWN / red should go to a 12V+ constant, BROWN / white to the switched side of the brake switch (feed out to brake lights).
