I just installed a Pioneer AVH-X5600BHS head unit, which is SiriusXM ready, and I have a problem that I can't figure out. When I turn on the FM radio, the CD player or the Aux source, (flash drive through USB), all of the speakers in the car play. But when I select the Satellite source I have no sound coming from the subs. All of the other speakers work, just the subs don't, and the subs work with all of the other sources like I said before. I've called SiriusXM 3 times with no advice. I have not activated the service yet, but the Channel #1, which is the preview channel plays music, minus the subs playing. Am I crazy? Or do I have to activate the service to get the subs to play? This makes no sense at all to me and the 3 people that I talked to don't know what to tell me. I'm not about to pay them just to find out, because I don't see how that could make a difference. HELP!!!!!!

Did you do the fimware update? Is the amplifier turning off when listening to XM? I have seen the XM lose all audio, that is what the firmware update fixes.

I don't know how to do a firmware update. I just installed it today and its not activated yet because of the problems I'm having with the preview channel. The subwoofer on the Pioneer shows its "on". The amp don't turn off. Just no sound comes from the subs.

where is the sub signal coming from? do you have it split off of the rear or is it dedicated from a sub output? stupid question... did you check the settings while in xm radio mode? its possible that the radio has different settings for each source and might require you to turn the sub woofer on while in xm radio source, it might also have its own eq settings too you you will have to adjust that again too.

The subs are fed through a RCA output jack on the pioneer. Yes I checked the settings on the XM source and the subs are "on". The subs play on every source except the XM. Guess I'll activate it today and see what happens. It don't make any sense to me.

Well, I activated the SiriusXM today and low and behold everything seems to be working now. Don't ask me why or how, cause I don't have a clue. I'm just glad it's working.

possibly the preview channel just doesnt have bass because its real function is to tell you that the tuner itself is working and that all that is needed is activation.

You might be right. It didn't use to be like that. That's the first one I've installed in years but it used to play every speaker on the preview. I thought it was odd that nobody I called at XM knew the answer though. They used to be more helpful.

Thanks a lot for that link. If the audio drops out again I'll try that update. For now it seems to be ok. I had no idea of the firmware update on that pioneer unit. That's a great help.
