I don't want to be the new guy who poses a question without doing any research, so I hope this doesn't come off that way. I installed a 5701 w/ Smart Start in my '98 Wrangler with the help of this forum and I was hoping to get some guidance on my next install.
Initially I wanted to install a remote start that would allow me to start my '09 Civic (auto transmission) with the factory fob. I was informed that strategy wouldn't work since the factory fob is dead when the engine is running so I'd have to use the key to unlock the door. So I decided I needed a keyless entry/remote start system instead, and a bypass module.
I didn't want a bypass that needed my spare key to function, and some of the modules I found required an uploader and some hardware to get things programmed. After a bunch of research it looks like the PKH34 will work as a no key required bypass for me. I'm open to other options as well if you guys think something else would work better.
The next piece of the puzzle is the remote start/keyless entry itself. I'm not looking for anything fancy. I don't need a ton of range or a lot of aux functions. I just want something inexpensive and reliable. Since you guys are the experts, can you point me any particular direction?
Is there anything else I'm missing? I'm not too worried about the install itself. This forum has a ton of great info to help me get the hardware in place. Thanks in advance.

The PKH34 will work as your bypass module.  No key will be left in the vehicle, the key is only needed to program

the bypass module to the vehicle.  The PKH34 is probably the least expensive of the currently available bypass
modules.  Other good choices that come pre-loaded with the correct firmware are :
Fortin      Key-OverRide-ALL and Honda-SL3
XPressKit           PKALL
iDatalink    ADS TBSL KO and ADS DLSL HA**

** This bypass module will dor more than just the transponder bypass and costs a bit more.

You are quite right about the Honda vehicles turning off their remote keyless entry during engine run time.  A basic

remote start with keyless entry is the way to go.  It's only a few extra wires to connect and will allow you to use the
PitStop feature found in most R/S systems.

Decent choices for the DIYer include :

Avital 4103
Viper 4105
Compustar CS800-s or the previous CS700-s and CS600-s
Ultra Start U1272
All are one-way systems with 1000 foot range and come with two FOB's.  Typical cost is $50 to $75.

Soldering is fun!

That is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you Kreg.
What extra features will I get with the iDatalink? Being that I'm shooting for a simple and budget minded install I figure the PKH34 is the way to go, I was just curious about the additional features.
Of the R/S systems you listed, would you or any other users recommend one over another? That might be a question like "which lift kit is best" on the Jeep forums I frequent and if so I'll do some reading and make my pick. But if there is something specific about one of your recommendations I'd like to take that into account first.
Thank you again for your quick response!

If your Civic has the Factory Alarm, the ADS DLSL HA will handle that and make the install a little easier.   Is it worth

the extra $40 for two less wire connections?  Maybe, maybe not.  Here is a link to their WEB site  :
http://www.idatalink.com/support    Look up your car and then download the ADS DLSL HA install guide to see all
the particulars.

Any of the R/S units listed will handle the basics ( locks, alarm, ACC2 wire, etc ).  The DEI units ( Avital & Viper ) will

also do the rear defroster, if that is important.  The Ultra Start has nice blue LED's in the antenna that will blink
while locked, giving the appearance of an alarm system, and is easy to program with the remotes.  The Compustar
has nice remotes that seem more durable than the Avital or Ultra Start.  The Viper has nice remotes, too, but is the
most expensive.  There are other system from Audiovox, Code Systems, Omega, Crimestopper that should be OK
too, I just don't have any hands-on experience with them.

My personal choice would be the Compustar CS800-s and the PKH34.  I'd also install a mercury switch in place of

the kit supplied hood pin.  Total cost would be under $90.  Decent system with good remotes & range.   For me,
Compustar programming is not an issue as I have the OP-500 programmer.

Soldering is fun!

Alright guys, I'm back for some more help. I have the system installed and it's not working 100%. The PKH34 seems to be the problem as the remote start works great if the key is in the ignition.
I have the Xpresskit wired as follows: black to ground, red to 12V+ constant, 4 pin D2D harness to red D2D port on RS, violet to light green at ignition and brown to blue in the satellite 4 pin harness on the RS.
The issue is that it doesn't seem to program properly when I follow the instructions, or reset properly. If I unplug the power harness from the PHK34 and hold the reset button, then plug the harness back in while still holding the button, the LED lights up but never goes off no matter how long I hold the button. Then if I turn the key to "ON" the light goes out. I will then get one remote start from the system. When I try to start it the second time it crank for a second and dies because the bypass isn't working properly. Again, the RS seems to work perfectly with a key in the ignition so I'm pretty confident the issue is with the PHK34.
I have read that I may need a firmware update on the PHK34? There isn't a lot of troubleshooting info on the system as it should just work. Any help would be greatly appreciate!

try unplugging the D2D cable, you don't need it. The d2D wire will only save you from hooking up the PKH34 brown wire, which you've already hooked up properly.

Thank you for the reply. It didn't dawn on me until you said that they D2D was in place of the W2W connections and not in addition to. I unplugged the D2D wire and reset the PHK34. The reset procedure still doesn't work as listed in the install instruction, but after an attempted reset and relearn I was able to repeatedly start the car with the RS. Thank you again.
The last thing I need to do is contort myself around to wire in the factory alarm/disarm wires and finally the rear defrost and I'll be done! Thank you all for your help through this process.

Hi, I am wiring Viper 4204V and PKH34 to my civic 2008. Anybody has the wiring diagram? Is the "light green (pin3)" data line is actually light green but also marked with silver dots? I am not sure if door lock/unlock signals shall be wired to viper of all this is done over the D2D CAN bus?
Thank you.
