Hello members,
I have purchased a viper remote start sytems for my 96 chevrolet c1500 extended cab pick up.
I have installed many stereos and alarm systems but this one has me stumped. I have checked the wiring for two days and cannot get even an attempt to crank. Hood pin is set and tested. Automatic so neutral safety is grounded. Picking up 12v from junction block for both leads. Purple start to yellow starter wire.ignition wires hooked up correctly. I don't even get a relay click from the box when I hit the start button on the remote. Door lock function working though.
Installation instructions with the unit very unhelpful but all Internet searches confirm my wireing. Could I have a bad unit?
I'm at a loss. I have pinned and checked everything.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Jon

What does the unit do when you try to remote start the truck?
Have you done the shutdown diagnostics?
To perform shutdown diagnostics:
1. With the ignition Off, press and hold the Valet button.
2 Turn the ignition On and then bock Off while holding the Valet button.
3 Release the Valet button.
4. Press and release the Valet button. The LED flashes to report the last
shutdown for one minute or until the ignition is turned on, as shown in the
following table:
LED Flashes - Shutdown Mode
1 flash - Timed out
2 flashes - Over-rev shutdown
3 flashes - Low or no RPM, low battery (voltage and virtual loch modes)
4 flashes - Transmitter shutdown (or optional push button)
5 flashes - (-) Hood Shutdown (5 pin Gray wire)
6 flashes - (+) Shutdown 15 pin Brown wire)
7flashes - (-) Neutral safety shutdown (5 pin BLACK/ White wire)
8 flashes - Wait-to-start timed out

Currently it does nothing when I hit start. I will go pull and see if there are any codes in it.

It's showing 5 pulses. For hood pin but I ohmd it out yesterday with the hood closed and did not get continuity. I'll pin it again in a few and make sure the pin is still breaking the circuit.

On the main loom with thick wires, are all the wires (red or red primary colour) with fuses connected to 12V+ constant?

Is there a safety switch on that model that needs to be plugged in?

Forget my last post, any chance of the foot brake feed being wired to the wrong side of the brake switch?
