Hi, I am having trouble with my Compustar remote start. I have honestly tried (mostly) everything and I cant get this thing to function properly. Previously it worked great but for the last year its been acting funny. The lock and unlock work on the after market fob as well as the trunk release. Although when I hold down the key button to tell the module to start my car it reaches the car and even cranks the engine but alas the car does not start! The module does start the car if the key is in the ignition and in the on position.
This thing has been a headache for me for a long time now. I have taken the car back to where the remote start was installed (Best Buy (my first mistake)) and they could not figure it out. Please someone help!

hold the key (black remote part) next to the key cylinder, try to remote start and see if it runs. if it does start you have an immobilizer issue. a reprogram should do it

I just tried this. It will crank over and over and over a total of three separate times but will not start the car. So that rules out immobilizer?

do you notice a flashing green key in the cluster? If yes its an immobilizer problem.
If no key is flashing, place the key into the ignition and leave it in the on position. (2nd click) activate the remote start and if it starts up there is an ignition problem.
if an ignition problem, look under your dash. Im going to assume this is an order unit so look for a 30 amp fuse on a GREEN wire. this is your ignition output. Change the fuse and you should be good to go

Remote starting with the key in the on position works. So its an ignition problem. Any idea what my next steps would be?

you will see 3-5 fuses bundled together (if its a good install). You might see 1 red, 1 white, 3 green fuses. one of the green fuses will have popped from excessive current draw.

This fixed it! Thank you! My car has been nice and toasty when I get into it, even on the coldest days. :^:
