Diode isolate the brake wire with cathode band facing the remote starter and relay isolate the starter wire with a 30/40 amp relay in this configuration:

  • 87 : Vehicles Starter wire
  • 85 : Ground
  • 30 : 12 Volts Constant
  • 86 : Remote Starter output wire.

These will fix problems associated with the GEM on the Ford trucks. Here is a wiring diagram as well for the truck: This information is for a 2002 Ford Super Duty F Series Truck

Notes:

NOTE: On DIESEL vehicles the wait to start light is activated by a databus wire from the ECM. To do wait to start use a pulse timer relay and follow directfax document #1091.  *1 Without keyless entry use pink / YELLOW for lock and pink/lt. green for unlock. They are 5 wire reverse polarity mastered from the driver switch and found in either kick panel. With keyless entry use WHITE/ red for lock and BLACK/ white for unlock. They are negative trigger and found at the VSM. On the vehicles with keyless entry the GEM shuts down after the doors have been locked for a certain time period, to "wake-up" the system refer to directfax document #1094.  *2 The VSM (Vehicle Security Module) is to the right of the accelerator pedal above the transmission hump below the radio. Not accessible from radio opening.  *3 For tach go to any one of the ignition coils and use the wire that is NOT RED / lt. green. On diesel vehicles the tach wire is green or white, in a 42 pin plug under the clamp on the engine side of the air intake duct.  *4 Also found at the radio on vehicles that have the in-dash CD changer.

Is the information/wiring diagram the same for the 2003 Ford F250 Diesel?  What's the number for the directfax service?  What company operates the directfax?

Here is some more information for the 2002 F250 Trucks:

You have 4 wires that are on the drivers side firewall taped to the wire harness white, blue, red, and black, they go through the firewall and are taped up under the dash. These wires are not connected to anything and save u the time of routing wires through the firewall. Under the drivers dash below and to the left of the fuse panel you will find those wires with a GREEN / WHITE wire. That wire provides a tach signal for any accessories when installing a remote start on a 2002 350.

Below are the ignition wires I used.

Wires are at the ignition switch harness near the bottom of the steering coloum.
Blue with Green Tracer= +12V in Accessory position Also called Accessory Wire
Green= +12V when Cranking Also Called Starter Wire
Red with Black Tracer= +12V in run position Also called Ignition 2
Red with Green Tracer= +12V in run position Also called Ingnition 1
Ya can't interface to the glow plug light in the dash for the delay like the old days (last year) . . . we now have to add a 15 second timer to the glow plug line of the r-starter.

Another trick for the XLT with RAP is to use the pink ignition wire from behind the radio to click a normally closed relay open.  Put pins 30 and 85 to ground, pin 87a to glow signal to brain, 86 to pink ignition going into radio. . .

Also if your truck has keyless check to see if the GEM module goes to sleep after a few minutes meaning that you can't unlock doors from switches.   You then have to use a disarm pulse to trigg the door pin switch and set your module for double pulse unlock.
