Im installing a DesignTech remote starter in a 2004 Chevy tracker.  I am extremely unclear on every wiring diagram I find concerning the ignition switch harness.  Here's what I see:

Starter - blk/yel to blk/red

Ignition - blk/wht to blk/blu
Ignition 2 - blk/wht to blu/blk
Accessory - yel/blk
Accessory 2 - blue (not necessary for remote start?)

Starter's no problem.

Notice Ignition 1 and 2 are blk/wht.  There is only one blk/wht wire in the ignition switch harness.  All the documentation says that the wires change color at a plug.  On one end of the harness is the key switch, and the other end is connected to a panel where all the other harnesses in the whole car plug into.  Do I have to search through all the wires on the other side of that plug panel to find the blk/blu and blu/blk wires?  Also, how does one blk/wht wire turn into 2 wires that are supposed to have different signals on them by going through just a plug?

The install guide describes the funtionality of the wires.  The accessory wire should be off in the key off position, on in the acc postion, on in the run postition, and off in the start position. Am I right?  In the tracker, the yel/blk wire is off in the acc position! In fact, it behaves like the ignition 2 should.  Why?

So those of you who have done an remote starter install on a 2001-2004 (wiring should be the same) chevy tracker, please help!  I guess the most important thing for me to know is what the deal is with ignition 1 and ignition 2.

thank you very much

Thanks.  This pretty much confirms that the yel/blk wire is the accessory wire, even though I still don't know why it doesn't have 12V when the key is in accessory.

Ok, so I know the starter, I know the accessory, and I have one unused wire (wht/blk) left in the harness.  But the remote starter module is looking for 2 more wires, ignition 1 and ignition 2.  Any ideas?

keep in mind although the unit may be capable for powering a second ignition, this is only needed if the vehicle itself requires it... it appears you dont need to worry about ign 2.....

Well, I tried without hooking up any ignition 2, and still nothing.  The unit is supposed to go through a initialization sequence.  First I turn on the unit, then open the hood, then press the brake and see the dash lights light up, then turn the key on and shift into drive then back to park.  When I do this, the dash lights don't come on when I press the brake and the thing never initializes.

Any Ideas?  Can anyone with a tracker with remote start working let me know how you did the wiring?  I appreciate all your help.
