This is my first attempt in installing a monitor in a headrest. What I'm running into is after measuring the monitors shroud and removing the foam there is a hard plastic casing that is causing the monitor not to sit inside enough to be flush (1/2" sticking out). Is it OK to cut the plastic?? The headrest is from a 94 Toyota 4Runner with tilting mechanism which is what I think is inside. The monitor with shroud is a 7". Thanks ahead of time for any help or suggestions.

Be careful..it would be best to try to take it apart first and see exactly how it works..and how much room you can gain from cutting it...also you need to know what your cutting into before you hack sumthing important out..you can gain a little if you need to cut the back of the headrest mount for the tv..just dont cut it all out..or the monitor wont stay put very well.
My opinion, get in there and inspect it real good before you cut it..if it still looks ok..go for it..just make sure ahead of time.
With a torch and a big enough hammer...it WILL friggin fit!!

Thanks Kidtransam,

I did a search on headrest and member Altimat (November 2004) made a type of spacer to make up for a oversized monitor. I think I will have to do something like that instead of cutting the plastic encloser holding the racheting mechanism. Hope I can squeeze the cover back over the headrest..
