I just checked out some of the factory radio auxiliary input converters on crutchfield and they are more expensive and bulky.  I got a P.I.E. PIO/P-RCA aux. input converter for my Pioneer HU for about $30.  I also got a mini-jack to RCA cable for $5 (I got 2 - one for the vehicle and one for connecting my iPod to my home stereo).  I use a Belkin F8V7058 charger for power.

The aux. input converter that lets you use the iPod controls would be my suggestion.  I haven't heard many good things about the adaptors that let you control the iPod with the HU.  Once they work out the bugs with the controls that may be an option.  I would rather use my aux input for an iPod than a cd changer (iPod holds more music) or satellite radio (paying for radio - no thanks - plus we have it at work and XM does not impress me).

best buy's ice links work good, if you have the right ones, can display the ipod text and everything...

if you're going aftermarket, i'd do alpine, ever ything that i have heard sounds like they work the best with the ipod's, especially this new years 53 and 55's.. i think the interface for them isn't that much, like 50 bucks or so? really not sure on that part tho... i haven't used pioneer
