wazz up !

i'm new on this forum and i'm not an electrician by trade. but i'm one of those do-it-yourself kind of guy. anyways the factory alarm on my 1998 golf gl mk3 2.0 liter engine witha 5 speed manual is not working and i'm planning in using an aftermarket one (maybe a viper brand one) i was just wondering if i have to hook up anything to the oem factory module wiring or just the power lock unit ( the central locking system on my vw is vacuum set up)? if so, can somebody please explain or send me a diagram of which wires do i have to hook up to the vacuum unit thanks!
