Has anyone installed one of these alarms? Are they any good? Thinking of picking up the line.

Excuse the spelling **Scytek**, I read alot of posts about it, but it seemed they were mostly complaints about the people that sell them.

Not familiar with them, but all I hear is complaints from DIY installer's and problems with the wiring. Aside from this, IMO I would stick to reliable & proven products to avoid giving yourself a bad name and all if the product line doesn't meet customer expectations.

Our store carried them for about 9 months or so. The first 6 months were very good. Then the last 3 months, every single 2way remote came back back that we had installed in the previous 6 months.

Alarms seemed solid.... remotes were a joke. We ended up dropping the line because customers were getting angry, impatient, and it looked bad on us. It was a chore to get the remotes replaced under warranty also making the customer wait up to a month to get a new remote did not work very well.

Never had to send a brain back though! Sent at least 20-30 remotes back in a very small time frame.

i've been doing them for a while now.

remotes 2-way remotes can be a problem. although i have had no probs myself.

i do mostly the precision 200 model is a more basic alarm cheap 2 aux nice remote and decent range.

all in all i don't think they are the worst that i have come across i give them 4 out of 5..

I installed a 5000RS2FM w/remote start in my Pathfinder about a year ago and its worked great. I havent had any issues with the 2-way remote either..I've only had to repace the AAA battery once in the year. My only complaint about it the lack of an optional silent arm (without going into programming mode) and the alarm LED flickers with the shock sensor while the car is disarmed (ala driving makes the light flicker..ANNOYING)

Definately not for the picky customer. But for the customer that doesn't want to spend any money you can't go wrong. The quality and reliability is definately a 4-5 but like I said the prices on those make the disposable!

I would recommend getting one from a relaible source. two guy on here had problems with scytek each bough at the same site.

buy from an autherised dealer.

if the install is good the alarm should be fine..

also the LED shouldn't flicker when driving only when ignition is off.

the led is handy for testing the sensitivity of the shock without having to set the alarm off or have your head under the dash.

and the led is instantanious with the shock so it is handy to have aswell

I installed a ScyTek Galaxy 5000 RS 2-Way in my 2001 Blazer. Installing was straight forward. Works great. Scytek has a office in California, but if you look up the FCC Identifier numbers on the brain and remotes on the FCC's website, you will find that they were designed overseas (Korea). I think you will find many of the alarms are made overseas. I am also told they make other brands of alarms sold on the market.
