I just purchased a 2005 GMC Canyon and am looking to install an autostart (maybe an alarm/autostart). I'm finding lots of information on the internet, but I'm having a hard time getting it all straight in my head. A few questions:
What security bypass module are recommended? I've seen options from building one from relays to units by DEI and others.
If anyone has installed stuff on this vehicle, how would you recommend accessing the various wires? I know I'll need some 1A diodes to interface with the doors, but are there any other items I'd need?
Recommendations on alarm/autostart units? How about the Viper 791XV?
I'm not in a rush to do this, I'd like to really research everything first. I'm tired of taking my vehicles to people who do half-@ssed jobs. I have plenty of electronics experience and have decided to do things myself from now on!

I use the PLJX or PLXR from Bypasskit.com for this vehicle and it is very easy to install.

It's cheaper and easier to use the PLJX or PLXR IMO

Go to the BCM on the passengerside of the center console. Very easy to access and all your wires are there with the exception of some at the ignition switch.

Use the wire information posted above.

Compustar 2WFM-AS-PRO or the 2W900FM-AS

Not a fan of the DEI stuff, but if your comfortable with the installation, go for it.
