I had a shop install a code alarm ca650 alarm/remote start on my 2009 Toyota Tundra not long ago. Unfortunately, they've since gone out of business as far as I can tell. My problem is that every time I turn my truck off, the trip odometer resets and the average mileage in the information center resets as well. This poses a problem for me because the regular odometer only turns over a mile every time the trip odometer does.
For instance, if I were to only drive .9 miles at a time for a week, the miles on my odometer would not go up. Not sure if this is a crossed wire, or if they tapped into the wrong power source when installing, but I'd like to get this fixed and I'm out of options here.

There is no theoretical reason to tap vehicle speed or for that matter any inst panel wiring.

I understand that, but it doesn't help me to fix the problem at hand. I don't know if this is a problem that anybody else had run into before and was looking for suggestions on how to fix it.

Did this start happening as soon as they installed the alarm?    If not, how long after did the problem arise?

Maybe you can look and see if they tagged any wires other than these.

Further thoughts...check all the fuses this sounds like odometer "memory" failure, also check conections, plugs etc for proper contact, Toyotas to me are notorious for plugs that appear to be driven home and aren't.

Remove the system from the truck ( unplug harnesses from alarm ) and check to see if the oroblem persists. If not, then you know its the alarm, but if it doesn't then look else where.

Ok, so i started by checking all the fuses. nothing wrong there. next moved to removing the alarm module. I was wrong in the first statement, it is not a ca650, it's a ca670. ca650 doesn't exist. Anyway, removed the module and the truck wouldn't start. fantastic. plug in the 4 pin harness only and truck starts. drive for 6/10 of a mile, go to turn the truck off, dash and all accessories turn off, engine keeps running. Put the key in, unplug 4 pin harness, turn key to 'off' position and truck stops running. let it sit for about 30 seconds, turn key to 'on' position and the odometer reset to 0.
I'm assuming this means my alarm is not at fault here, and now that I think of it that way, they also installed an in-dash nav at the same time which could possibly be the problem. unfortunately I don't have the tools to remove that and see if it is the problem.
