Hello everyone. I have done prior installs on 2 other vehicles and this forum was a great source of info. My question is for a 2008 Jeep Compass W/O OEM security, how do I prgram a PKUMUX. In the manual it says to wait for the security light to come on and wait for the chimes. I do not have a security light. Also am I using the MUX wire for the install or am I using the starter wire like a normal install. According to the PKUMUX manual it says to go with the install A, chrysler 2nd Generation transponder W/O OEM alarm. It says red to + Blk to - and Blu/wht - to ground when running output(status). Any help would be great, especially for the program part.

The "security light" they are referring to is the Sentry LED in the dash. When you insert a valid key into the ignition column, there's an LED light that turns on and off when a key is inserted.

Wow, this install was the esiest one I have done. The PKUMUX programed perfect and the multiplex controls alomost everything else. Thanks for the reply on the light. I was busy trying to find a "SECURITY" light on the dash.
They mention that there is going to be a chime more often but it only chimed once at the end when the loop was programed and the light never stayed on for the 3 seconds like they say.

Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge vehicles react differently when programming in comparison to the install instructions. In most cases, you have to rely on the timing more than the reactions from the vehicle.

You can say that again. I know from exprience (I used to work for Mercedes Benz as a Tech) and sometimes you have to look outside the box. I was a little embarassed about the post when I found out how simple things went. My first time dealing with Multiplex systems. I try to keep up on things.

Most of these vehicles are " that easy to do " with the new bypass modules now available for the installers. Most of the time, the Jeeps/Dodge/Chrysler vehicles post 2004 are about a 45-60 minute installation with full convenience and RS just because of the bypass module saving time.

Seeing that you were a MB tech, have you installed an RS into a 2000-2002 ML320 ?

I left working for Mercedes Benz back in 1989 to become a police officer in New York City. I usually work on the older models.....1980 - 1990.
