im installing a automatic turn signal cancelation device on my bike, it's called a signal minder. it replaces the stock turn signal relay and will turn off the indicators after a pre set amount of time. one feature is if you hook up your brake light wire it will pause the timer when it senses the 12 volts from the brake light.
my problem is that my bike runs a continuous 6 volts (for the running lights) until the brake is applied then it ups the voltage to 12volts. this 6 volts has a negative effect on the singnalminder.
is there a way I can have a relay that splits off the normal brake wire that would tie into the signalminder. when it senses the jump to 12 volts it would send a 12 volt supply to the signalminder?

Take the signal from the brake switch(es) instead of the lights.
If it's a grounding switch, use a relay to invert the signal.
There are other options, but find out what minimum voltage is needed to halt the timer.

Follow the wire from the brake light to the module under the seat. At that module you should find the wires from each of the brake switches. You should get both of those wires.
Are you sure it is not a dual filament bulb?

According to the Microfiche at buymotorcycleparts.com, there are 3 wires going to the Brake/Tail assembly. One should be for running lamps and the other will be for brake. There is also a separate set of wires for the license plate lamp.

I have the N model. It has a continuous 6 volts until the brake level is applied then it ups it to 12.
Thanks.

The fiche I viewed was for the 08 N3. What year is your bike? Are there 2 separate harnesses going into the taillight area? One for License plate lamp and the other going into the brake/tail? Are there 3 wires on the brake/tail harness?
