This thread ended Jan 2013, not Jan 2014.
Hah. Yes, I missed that. Very perceptive of you to pick up that that's what I did. I'm still writing 2013 on my paperwork. Takes awhile...
But still, I learned something from this thread regardless:

I may go out to the bench later this evening and wire up a relay as a latch, bang it around on the bench, and see what it takes to get it to drop-out.
I did this. I banged the crap out of the relay from all 5 directions (except from the terminal end). It did not drop out. I'll n longer concern myself with a "bump" causing a drop out.
OK. Back into hibernation.

And you took note of its coil voltage etc...
But hence as I wrote - relay reliability is rarely an issue.
BUT if its coil voltage drops, it could let go (easier) or melt/flame if switching high currents.
BTW - missing thread age is easy (IMHO; the number of times I used to do it!).
And sometimes my late awakenings are quite deliberate.
PS - and nice to hear the old learnings still seem to be valid. (Thanks for testing. I rarely trust old hearsay.)
