Hello All, first post here. I've been working on installing a 1-way remote starter in my 2004 (XLT/4.0/4x4). I have followed directions and rewired it multiple times but never any success. Here's what I have now, maybe a fresh set of eyes will see something I don't. Also, as of last night, something shorted out at the ignition harness (i saw the spark) and now neither the R/S module nor the Bypass Module will get any power. Multimeter shows 12V and when I test voltage on the purple starter wire the voltage just keeps increasing indefinitely. Also, it appears that the key in ignition chime isn't working following aforementioned spark.
Remote Starter:
Viper 4105V 1-Way Remote Start System
http://www.amazon.com/Viper-4105V-1-...APAC8M24PKX7A9
Immobilizer/PATS Bypass Module:
XPRESSKIT Databus All Interface Module
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/xpresski...&skuId=4000003
All connections are soldered
Bypass module was flashed with most recent firmware
Used multimeter to test all wires before and after connection.
I will list all connections below. I have also attached pictures of a diagram I drew to help assembly everything. Please feel free to ask questions.

I have probably spent close to 40-hours working on this install. While this is my first remote starter install, automotive electrical is not something new for me. I sincerely thought this would be easy, but boy was I wrong. i'm determined to complete this install by myself. I'm not eager to have Best Buy install it, but it's looking like that is my only option at this point.
Thank you for taking the time to read this thread and consider my situation. Any input, suggestions, comments, or advice is greatly appreciated.

Remote start, 6-pin connector:

1- PINK--PRIMARY IGNITION--GREEN/ black at ignition harness
2- PURPLE--STARTER--RED / light blue at ignition harness
3- ORANGE--ACCESSORY-- yellow/grey at ignituion harness
4- *RED--12V-- yellow at ignition harness
5- PINK/WHITE--SECOND IGNITION/ACCESSORY--GREEN/ black at ignition harness
6- *RED--12V-- yellow at ignition harness
* Pin-4 & Pin-6 (both RED) spliced together into yellow at ignition harness

Should be :

Remote start, 6-pin connector:
1- PINK--PRIMARY IGNITION--          lt. GREEN/ purple  +  ignition harness
2- PURPLE--STARTER--        RED / light blue at ignition harness
3- ORANGE--ACCESSORY-- gray / YELLOW at ignition harness
4- *RED--12V--           yellow#1 at ignition harness *
5- PINK/WHITE--ACC2--         BLACK/ light green at ignition harness
6- *RED--12V--           yellow#2 at ignition harness *

*  There should be 3 Yellow +12V constant wire in the main ignition harness.  Split the Viper +12V load between them.

Remote Start Harness, 5-pin connector:

1- BLACK/ WHITE--NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH--tan/red at BJB, on starter relay, pin-85
2- VIOLET/WHITE--TACHOMETER--tan / YELLOW behind instrument cluster
3- BROWN--BRAKE SHUTDOWN--lt green at brake pedal switch
4- GREY--HOOD PIN SWITCH SHUTDOWN--grounded
5- BLUE/WHITE--2ND STATUS--not used

should be :

Remote Start Harness, 5-pin connector:
1- BLACK/ WHITE--NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH--    should be to Chassis ground for auto trans vehicle  **
2- VIOLET/WHITE--TACHOMETER--             tan / YELLOW behind instrument cluster
3- BROWN--BRAKE SHUTDOWN-- lt green at brake pedal switch
4- GREY--HOOD PIN SWITCH SHUTDOWN--          don't ground.  Connect to kit supplied hood pin
5- BLUE/WHITE--2ND STATUS--      not used
** 4105V is for Auto Trans vehicles only

Of course there appear to be other problems with the Ranger that should be corrected before continuing with this install.

Probably a blow fuse somewhere...

Additionally, there could be issues with the Viper, too.  Check those fuses, too.

Soldering is fun!

This is great kreg357! This is a good start for me. Could I follow the same wiring chart for a 04 ford expedition?
You are not using a lot on the 9 pin connector. I have pulled the wire for the trunk relase to use for my tail gate window relase on the remore. What is the Satellite harness for, and I guess I can skip it. Alson, I noitice that you need to use a relay for any connections with (mA) milli Amps next to it.
Could I get a cheat sheet like you did for your Ranger for an 04 Expedition? I have the bypass instructions down, just the Remote Start needs a little help..Thanks
