hi there,
i have a mk3 golf in the uk.
my passenger side HID is unstable and flickers. its done this with the last two ballasts and bulbs ive had in it.
i recently brought a 55w set and a relay kit to see if this helps it, however its still doing it.
ive checked that the fuses are all okay and are 20amp. i cant find any loose connections.
i cant figure out why its doing it.
any help or info would be very appreciated!

Check the grounds.
It might simply be VW preserving their cultural heritage of dim left side headlights. (Yes, that too was a grounding issue.)

Lots of things that aren't caused by bad grounding.
But until you provide more information...

i moved the ground from the neg. on battery to a bolt on the wing.
as far i can tell, although not tested it to much this seems to have helped but the other side is now flickering slightly.
i havent had a chance to give grounds a good clean to make maxium connection but will try this when io get a chance!

try swapping the left and right plugs and see if the problem remains. A flickering HID can be due to several issues including, low battery, low output of the alternator, DRL (you should not connect HID on DRLs), bad capacitor in the relay harness (if present at all), etc.
So check your grounds well and swap the plugs for easy solutions, the others are quite more complicated. Good luck.
