Need to dim two 12V led's

Hello,
I have two led's shining on my license plate but these are too bright.
Is there a possibility to dim these?

Try running them in series. Maybe a thin layer of clear silicone. Maybe a thin layer of black silicone.

grab an led/resistor calculator and figure out a resistor thatll do it.
