Good day.I am one of the million billion Electronic fanatics or whatever you may call it.I have a lot of experience that I gained from previous work places, books, net ,aswell as this site.I'm am stuyding basic electronics and when I'm done I'm going to study electronic Technician.I think you call it MECP in the US.I find it very interesting how each device works,it makes a lot more sense now that I go deeper in the field. The reason for this studies is obvious to have something behind my back.I have a question,do you guys find this studies dufficult or easy.I am so stressfull as I have a fulltime job, doing partime jobs, have a daughter to take car off and I still have to go through my text books.things just don't stick in my head.any ideas ,techniques and methods to get through this,I want to get through this once and get done with it.this is my passion, this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.

You can be a genius by reading books, but do a few good solder joints, learn to use a meter properly but most of all experience, I'm great on diagnostics for two reasons, I can "see" a circuit and I know what it's supposed to do.
With many of the morons who post in the convenience section asking why their alarm doesn't work, I feel giving them a DMM is akin to giving a 5 year old an assault rifle.

Lol..I think I must just get myself a good DMM,I like spending time with the continuity function,it helps me a lot to make all connections at one location.

That's fine it's the guys who say "well I'm getting 1.475* volts on this wire". No you're not your meter needs bloody calibrating, also we're looking for around 0 or 12 so too much information!
*Actually that's probably circuit leakage from a body control unit but who cares!

You know what really helps me and still helps me,its the notes I make when I work on a car the 1st time.I still have that little scary feeling when I work on a car the 1st time, but then I go back to your words, passive testing, and the other thing why should I feel that way if I know how a DMM works. You know its really true, the DMM is a techs best tool, its like a firearm in the army.

Yes TEST TEST TEST.
On a strange vehicle I raid all the alarm maker's sites, that's why I keep asking you to refer to Conlog, they of all people should know their way around SA market vehicles. Use their info as a crib sheet and test from there.

To be honest Howie..they are useless, they don't even sometimes have the power lock/unlock info available.I prefer to come on this site, and just retest the wires as I know some vehicles wire colors will differ.

Find equivalents to your vehicle on US or European sites, then again test.
Funnily enough I always found their installer instructions to be rather an illogical nightmare.
