Hello!
I am looking for another amplifier, preferably 4 channels. Goal is not super power, but more power is always welcome. I'm after nice low noise and distortion. I don't know what brands are really good now and what's junk, who lies on spec's, etc. Also like it to last a long time. I just installed a Blaupunkt EMA 455 (55 Watts x 4, 0.08% THD/85 db SNR). I could just get another, and it would do, but like I said more power is good too. Looking to spend around $100, but I can spend more if needed, just not $100's. I think I can get another for around $120 delivered.
I am using an active crossover, and have a second one I can use if needed. This will not be driving subs. Looking to drive with a new amp + the Blaupunkt I already have, base, mid bass, midrages and tweets on separate channels. Either amp can do any of the tasks, depending on what sounds best.
To me, in this application, useless features are:
High level inputs
HPF/LPF that have the typical 50ish to 300ish Hz range for subs
Bling
Useful, but certainly not required:
HPF/LPF filters that go up into KHz
Class D (I have my amps in a steel box with fans, getting a bit warm in there, drawback of da hood, all stealth. Also have more fans I can add)
Line/RCA outputs
Fuse sizes that backup the power claim.
Bass boost
I found a Jensen Power 760.4 (75 Watts X 4, .02% THD/100 dB SNR) Can this be true? The claim CEA-2006 Compliant, FWIW. More power, better sound, less money.
Also saw Lanzar amps that were very feature rich, high power, don't remember the details
So much out there, I'm overwhelmed and thought I'd better ask where to start searching, at least brand wise. On-line shopping sites for the amp would be great to know too. Someone posted a couple of sites, now I can't find them.
TIA,
jon
