Avital 4103LX starter grind and more

In May of 2014 I installed a 4103LX kit in my 1994 Chevy Silverado. I took my time and had no problems. System worked great until the weather got really cold and sometimes during a remote start the starter wouldn't disengage when the engine started. It's done it a handful of times since then. Except for this it worked great. Lately it's been doing it more frequently. Couple days ago hit the start button, engine started, starter kept grinding and I pushed the button again to kill it. Pushed it again to start and I hear click, click like the battery's dead. It had just started remember. Tried to crank it with the key and get a faint click. I let it sit for awhile and thought about it, tried to start with the key and fired up just like normal, except the radio and a/c control needed to be reset like the battery had been disconnected. Did it again today. Battery had 12.6 v but starter just clicked when I turned the key. Radio and a/c need rest. Cables at battery are clean and tight, haven't messed with starter end but it's been working fine. And when it does crank it fires right up, doesn't turn over slow and I can drive it for an hour, shut it off and it cranks just fine so I don't think it's a heat soak problem with the starter, and after sitting overnite battery still shows 12.6v so I don't think there's a draw on it. I'm starting to think it may be the Avital module. Any thoughts or advice would really be appreciated. Thanks and sorry for being so long winded just trying to give you all the info.

Sounds like you need a new starter to me. Crawl under there when it doesn't start and smack it with a hammer and see if it starts...Did you run a tach wire for the remote start?

I installed it May of last year. It's been working as it should except for the occasional times the starter doesn't disengage. This afternoon I cranked it with the key, it started normally. I let it sit for an hour or so and pushed remote start button and get click, click, click. Tried to start with the key and same thing. If it performs as it has, later on I will be able to start it with the key with no problems. The starter works as it should as long as I don't use the remote start. Wondering if any of you have had a bad module and how can I get a replacement? Can I take the module to Best Buy or somewhere like that and swap it? Thanks for your help

first you need to run a tach wire and program tach if you havent already.  second, definitely sounds like your starter/alt/battery is going bad.  Check all the connections and grounds to make sure nothing is loose.14 year 12v installer/tech
