i have a pioneer stereo, 4 channel amp and a 3 farad capacitor (i know i don't need the cap. it stayed installed because i used to have a 2000 watt subwoofer amp i took the sub and amp out of the system)my alternator whines when the system is on. when the rca cable is disconnected from the stereo or the amp the noise is gone. i tried higher quality rca cables but still have the same problem. i re grounded the stereo to the chassis didn't help. do i need to reground the amp or take out the cap? the amp is grounded to the seat bracket with a bolt that holds the seat in place. i have 4 gauge wire from the battery to the cap then 8 gauge from the cap to the amp.

Pioneer radios are notorious for this issue. Sometimes there is a part that burns out in the pre-amp section that causes this.
