I am trying to install the upgraded LED DRL Tundra headlights onto my 2016 Tundra. I think I have the general concept down but I was hoping someone could check over my plans and check for any errors that might cause an unsuccessful installation. The DRLS have three wires, a ground and a Hi and Low brightness wire. I’m planning on using two HELLA H41410081 Weatherproof 20/40 Amp SPDT 280 relays.
Here’s the plan
Relay 1
30 – Fused Batt power
86 – input from 3 amp ignition enabled dash switch
85 – ground
87- switched power supply for Relay 2
Relay 2
30 – switched power from pin 87 on Relay 1
85 – ground
86- + signal from parking lights
87- DRL output Low brightness
87a- DRL output High brightness
I want to have the DRL at full brightness whenever the truck is running and the dash switch is on and then switch to low brightness when the parking lights are turned on. Does this look correct or is there an easier way? Any help will be appreciated.
