Hello to all.
I am in the process of replacing the head unit on my 2000 land rover range rover hse, the new unit is a single din pioneer dex9500bhs. I have all wires connected thru a metra harness and all works so far.
I am using a pac swi-rc steering wheel interface of course in order to maintain steering wheel control switches. according to instructions provided by pac I should have the white wire of the interface connected to vehicle orange gray (actually silver) and power and ground accordingly.
also pac should be programmed to version 9...done.
the issues arises (if i understood the instructions correctly) that when I turn on the key, pac interface is supposed to verify version by flashing same number of version in my case 9...pac flashes 10 times.
and I have difficulty programming the steering buttons, that is pac will not enter into second phase of programming... it is my first time using wheel interface, I am a land rover mechanic and amateur installer so the likelihood I am doing something wrong does exist.
can anyone shred and share advice?
thanks ..carlos.

never mind, found the issue. it was with in the metra harness connector.
since land rover and volkswagen share the same harness. the harness is set for volkswagen use, this means the yellow and red wires are crossed.
the steering interface was wired correctly but not the harness, this did not allow the interface to shut down and thus would not enter programming.
once I realized the memory and power wires needs to be relocated all worked.
thanks to all who viewed.
