I own a 2007 Chevy Tahoe that was a military police vehicle before I got it. As far as I can tell it is a standard police package. A local installer with a very good reputation installed a remote starter for me last winter that only worked a short time before no longer doing anything but making the lights flash. The installer then put in the Autostart (ASRF-3515) currently in it. That one worked fine for less then a week before it became erratic, sometimes working, sometimes not. Ironically, the only pattern I have observed is that it did not work when it is colder outside. If the vehicle was manually started and driven even a short time, the remote starter would work afterwards, and on my lunch break and at the end of the work day. This season, however, it will not work at all, not once. When I press the started button, the Tahoe's lights will come on, and I can hear the blower start for an instant before shutting off, with the lights shutting off several seconds after that. The Tahoe has another malady which may or may not be relevant. The cruise control also only works in warm weather, and the right turn signal control is not working properly; I think those last two issues are related. I am uncertain how to proceed. The installer has told me he has done everything he can. Could this remote starter problem be due to the fact that this vehicle once had more electronics installed, on the form of lights, radios, etc.? Any insight would be much-appreciated.

Start with inspecting all the wires for points of previous install that may have been cut and crimp connected back together or exposed or poorly taped back up especially under the hood for corrosion and reseal or repair as necessary.
