Hello, I am having an issue and I do not know what to begin to look at. I put led license plate lights in my 2005 WRX hatchback and they are strobing and flickering. I look like a mobile rave. Lol. I have tried to clean the contacts thinking it was making intermittent contact and even tried to beef up the leads by wrapping them in tinfoil. Still with the flicker. I don't know what the next part in trouble shooting would be. Bad diodes in alternator? Bad grounds? I have tried multiple led 194 bulbs and they all flicker. Thanks for any help.

Shoot, forgot to mention that the LEDs flicker even with the car off and key turned to acc, so I don't suspect alternator, but I don't know....

I wonder if the power for the license plate light is on some kind of PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) circuit ?.
I would try hooking up your new LED light assembly right to the battery and see if it flickers or if it stays steady on it's output.
You may have to find another source of 12V for this light if the original wires output is made for a filament type of bulb and not an LED style.
I also wonder too if there is a circuit in the car that detects a filament type of bulb being burnt out and now the LED is messing with that circuit or design as it's now a different load ?.
