How do you properly find and test preamp outputs on a factory radio? This radio does not have speaker wires, btw. But I would like to know how to test for postive/negative leads and voltage output also.
Thanks.

What vehicle? Do you have an old pair of amplified computer speakers that you could sacrifice the input plug?

Its a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. The factory amp is removed and an aftermarket amp is being installed. I do not have any old computer speakers but I think I can find something.

cut the 1/8 inch input plug off. Strip back about 6 inches, separate the shield from the center conductors. Attach the shield to the chassis of the vehicle. Strip one of the center conductors back, put some solder on it so you can use it as a probe. Turn the radio on and the volume up. Probe the wires 1 at a time. Once you find the 4 wires with signal, use balance and fader to figure out which is which.
