Last week I installed a remote start (DEI) on an 03 Yukon with Passlock II. Everything worked fine, but now the customer says that when he remote starts the truck, it wont shift from first to second when he drives it. I'm lost!! I dont understand how remote starting it and driving is any different from starting it with the key once it is off and driving!! Anyone with experience here would be a savior to me... thanks in advance.

If the white wire is NOT CONNECTED, it can cause problems such as this. It needs to be powered up as a second ignition wire; from what I understand, it powers the electronically controlled transmission circuits, and doesn't work right if the car is started without it getting power.

When you tstart it with the key it works fine.

When you remote start it, and miss the 2nd IGN, you are not showing the vehicle the same sequence..... there's your difference.

When you put the key in after the remote start, you have missed turn-on 'window' for the computer. It now puts the vehicle in limp mode..... and you know what happens next.

I don't believe those have a 3rd ignition wire on the vehicle, just the pink one and the white one. If they do, then I'd hook it up, but if you're just referring to the output from the RS, it doesn't need to go anywhere.

You didn't hook up all of your ignitions. Here is the way it works. The computers are looking for everything to turn on in a certain order, so if you miss one of the ignition wires and remote start the car the ecu thinks that the transmission computer is bad. When you start it with the key then everything starts up like normal and works fine, but when you remote start it the car freaks out.
