I'm trying to install a remote starter on my '02 Toyota Rav4.

The car has a dealer installed "Securikey+ alarm"

I'm trying to locate the wire to disarm the alarm. Up till now I've only found a wire on my alarms main module "for use with remote starter kit".

Should I hook the FASD from my starter to this wire or is there another connection?

dei doesnt even list a disarm wire for your vehicle
audiovox says it disarms with unlock , which normally means it isnt neccessary to disarm before remote starting. so before you beat yourself up looking for this wire, first try it without any disarm wire and see what happens. (when you bench the remote start, just leave yourself provisions for a disarm wire if needed)

MxxMikexx,

Thanks for your reply.

The tech at bulldogsecurity told me that the disarm connection would be on pin 13 of the 14 pin connector in my kick panel, but I guess that is for a factory alarm. Mine is a dealer installed alarm. I only know it is a "Securikey+" alarm, but can't seem to find any info about it.

If the Dealer Installed this Alarm............The Alarm probably Dis-Arms only with the Remote or Key / Valet.
I don't know of many DEALER Installed Alarms that will have Dis-Arm wire, Unless from Factory

rav 4 does not come or offer a factory alarm unless if it was installed with an aftermarket alarm, there are two type of security systems that are usually installed in this vehicle the type that works with u'r factory keyless entry or the kind that comes with another remote other than the factory keyless also that securikeyis just basiclly a traking code almost like a window etching so i know this vehicle doesn't come with a transponder type key ,i've been working on rav 4's since they came out and i haven't seen or even heard of it ever offering a chipped key and you have to disarm anything but u may have to bypass the shock sensor to avoid falsing while remote starting, maybe the ign.wire too depending on the remote start u'r using

if your remote start offer 2 wires that pulse a ground before and after starting you can hook up pulse before start to unlock and pulse after start to lock if it makes you feel any better but truthfully u don't need it....

audiopro111,

Thanks for your help.

I seem to have a dealer installed "securikey" alarm, made by Audiovox.

Audiovox advises to switch the "ignition" input to my alarm with my remote starter such that I have a 0 on the ignition input while starting, such that I can still use my original remote to open the doors (a 12V at the ignition input will prevent my original keyless to open the doors).

What I want to do is to use my new remote (from the starter) to open/close my doors and arm/disarm my alarm.

Right now, when I remote open my doors (using the door lock/unlock wires in the harness), my alarm won't disarm.

Is there any way (by wire) to arm/disarm my alarm (without using the valet switch)?

I managed to get a pinout of my alarm and it had a "disarm" input which is not connected in my car. Do you know anything about that?

Thanks,

SORRY i didn't respond earlier but the factor that your alarm is audiovox is cool because thats all i deal with, when you got your alarm did they give u an owners manual because if they did, on the top right of the front page it should say what model alarm u have;it may say PRO-9232a,PRO9232s,PRO9842a,PRO9842b,PRO9642ch, if any of these models match let me know and i'll have the answer for you also if u don't have it just describe to me what the remote that arms &disarms your alarm looks like, colors, and amount of buttons and i most likely can identify it like that.

thanks, talk to ya soon     AudioPro111

Hi AudioPro111

Allthough AudioVox is the manufacturer of the alarm, it isn't branded "AudioVox" but Securikey.

I confirmed with the tech at AudioVox that they were the manufacturer, but he referred me to "Gulf States Toyota" who is the importer for my region.

At GST, they could only give me the troubleshooting manual with wiring information, but according to them, there is no way to (dis)arm the alarm.

The funny thing is that the alarm has a pin named "Disarm" which is not hooked up to my car.

I tried probing it, but couldn't disarm the system through it.

I want to be able to (un)lock and (dis)arm my car with both my original Securikey remote and my new remote starter remote, so I guess I am left with four options

a) buy a spare Securikey remote controller and hook up the arm/disarm signals of my remote starter to the key through 2 relays. I'd have to hide the key somewhere under my dash

b) Use the valet disarm to disarm the alram, this involves giving the alarm ECU an ignition signal (making it think there's a key in the lock) and closing the valet switch within 5 seconds.

The arming can be done by enabling the auto rearm function

c) install relays to bypass my shock sensor, door and hood triggers.

d) throw out the alarm and install a decent one

I'm leaning toward a) because it is the cleanest option, but also kinda cheesy

So, if you could tell me how the Audiovox alarms are disarmed, I could try that on mine and see if it works.

I downloaded all Audiovox installation manuals and the only thing they say about the remote starter disabling the alarm was to mess with the ignition signal fed to the alarm ignition input

Thanks for reading through and hopefully someone can help me

Peter
