Looking at the schematics, I see it (04 highlander) has a 2nd starter wire, I'm planning on installing an autopage rs-900. Do I need to connect the 2nd starter wire? I read somewhere srs light will turn on? If I dont connect it........ If I need to connect it,.....The rs-900 has a 2nd starter wire option but its a (-), do I use a relay to convert to + ?
Can I connect both vehicle starter wire to the primary starter wire on the autopage module? (ie. 2 wires to one) Any harm?
I've done 2 remote starters in the past but never with a 2nd starter
Thanks in advance |

Do not connect the two starer wires together. It will over time blow the AM2 fuse for your igntion switch. You need to add a relay to drive this second starter wire.... ___________________________________________ Mike M2

Dittoes on Mike M2's advice. Use a relay from the rs900's 2nd start. output, wired as follows:
85 - (-) 2nd start output from rs900
86, 87 - constant fused 12V (ideally, you should use the existing ignition switch feed that powers the 2nd start)
30 - 2nd start wire on the Toyota ___________________________________________ C Renner's Auto Electronix

Is there a difference between chris's method and this one?
85 (-) 2nd start output from rs900 86,30 constant fused 12v 87 2nd start wire on toyota
I'm not familar with relays and have only used them once or twice
Any help greatly appreciated

If you connect the way I suggested you won't have 12 volts going to 87a when the relay is inactive. Other than that there's no difference, but it's better when switching 12 volts through an SPDT relay to put the input high current 12 volts on 87 or 87a. ___________________________________________ C Renner's Auto Electronix
