Hello all  Well I have gotten the wife a AUTOSTART AS-8500 FM remote start http://www.autostart.ca/prodInfo.php?alarm=0&starter=1&tw=0&prod=AS-1855FM and the IDATALINK Passlock I,II/PK3,PK3+ ( ADS-TBSL PL ) http://www.idatalink.com/installguide.phpSolo series bypass for her 2000 Monte Carlo I was wondering if anyone could help me out with the install I have done remote starts in the past on older modle cars but never one with factory alarm on them ( If you can call an anoying horn honk an alarm lol ) I do wiring trouble shooting on a daily bases and know how to use my DMM and test light  LOL , I solder and heatshrink all my conections and understand more or less what i need to do when it comes to wiring  But i was hoping someone in the know could give me some heads-up on the install maybe a walk thru on this car or even some good tips or tricks dealing with this car Thanks you Very much for any help Dan D |

is the factory alarm the only problem? if so sometimes its happened to me in the past. did you hook up the factory alarm diarm wire? if you didnt its in the bcm above the brake pedal in a gray plug. its a lite green neg trigger. i encountered a monte like this one a while back and the stock piece of crap kept kickin in i just hooked this wire up and bam there hasnt been any more problems. if you need any more help dont hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the reply :) at the moment i haven't started to hook any of it up but i will keep that in mind when i get around to it busy time of year for us all LOL |

well I was hoping someone could clarify this for me from what i can understand to do the hook up in this car i need 2 diodes for the door trigger wires and then 1 480ohm resister for the unlock signal wires i think that is everything that i will need CAN ANYONE HELP ???

Hello all and let me start by saying thanks for everyone who has helped in this forum it is a great place to be and share info  for my question I installed an autostart on a 2000 Monte Carlo SS and everything went well the only thing is how in the world do you Rearm the factory alarm I have search and found no reliable info If someone could be so helpfull as to clear this up for me it would be awsome Thanks Dan |

All I can get is that it's BLUE and no location, but chances are it's coming from the driver's door through the boot. Look for a BLUE wire there ( if it's there ?? ) and test for it by locking the door using the driver's key hole and it will most likely be 12 volts at rest and will go to GOUND when locked. If there's no BLUE wire that acts like this, then the ARM feature is only controlled through the OEM remote.

Thank you Velocity One more question on this 2000 Monte Carlo SS is on some wiring sheets it says to use + park light wire and on other wire sheets it says use - park light wire and then there are other sheets that says Don't use + park light wire why is that and Is there a reason why I Shouldn't use the + wire ?? |

The factory alarm will arm if you pulse the door lock wire and the driver's doorpin wire to ground at the same time. The LF doorpion wire is drak blue in the gray 16 pin plug of the BCM. You can diode isolate the lock wire to do this, but you must also use a relay to open the wire going to the LF doorpin while the vehicle is running under remote start. Failure to use the relay won't allow the doors to lock. The BCM won't allow the doors to lock because it senses the vehicle is running, the door opening and the lock circuit in use. It thinks you are going to lock yourself out of a runing car. Wire terminals 85 & 86 to ignition and negative out when running (diode isolate the negative out when running if using it for anything else) Terminals 87a and 30 are the doorpin pulse wire. One terminal to the lock wire from the remote starter and the other to the dark blue doorpin wire. There may be a slight delay in the doors locking, but it will work.

on the left side of the dash where the fuse panel is you can get to the harness for the parking lights which is behind the headlight switch there is a thin light blue wire in there that is a negative parking light wire. use that and then you wont have to diode the parking light wire or anything and you wont have to worry about the check engine light coming on during remote start |
