I am new here and wanted to post pictures of my install. I grew up with car stereo back in high school and college and years later I decided I wanted a good audio again. I had an old school Alphasonik amp that O re-used that is at least 12 years old if not more. My priorities were #1 - retain as much storage room including under rear seat as possible #2 - not spend much money (already had most of the parts since I was acquiring things over the last few years.) All I bought was the wiring, fuses, etc. #3 - make it totally stock appearing Any comments and criticism is welcome.
Here is my install. Not the best components as far as my sub amp, but this is a budget / stealth install so the key was not to spend much more over what I already owned.
I already had the old school Alphasonik 4 channel amp from years ago and picked up the Alphasonik sub from a buddy a few years back for $25. A steal considering the original price tag. I put the sub in a MDF center console replacement. 3 years ago I bought the Kenwood front components but never installed them. I also got some Focal 6.5 2 ways for the rear which I installed 3 years ago with the factory head unit. About 2 years ago I got the JVC headunit so I could play DVDs and my Ipod.
So, the latest install was the sub, center sub box, Kenwood components, sub amp, mids and highs amp, and wire rear Focals to amp. I went with correct wiring, fuses, gold plated connectors, and good wire. I feel a professional install with good parts is almost if not more important than the components you choose (assuming you get mid to high end components.)
I already had lots of sound deadening including Dynamatt, off brand mat, and a sound deadening mat ontop of that on most of the truck. I sprayed some additional stuff inside the doors since they were off.
I ran the wires through the Molex door connectors and did everything the correct way instead of taking short cuts. Let me tell you, it might not look like it, but it took a long time for the install. The intention was for it to be stealth with the only visible parts being the head unit and tweeters. The tweeters are in the factory location and I can remove the head unit face plate, so it looks factory. It sounds FAR from factory. One high end 10" sub down firing in the center getting 600 watts RMS is PLENTY for our trucks. I got some GM side posts since my batteries had side post threads. I installed a clamp and ran a 2 gauge wire off of this though a firewall bushing that is sealed to a distribution block. From there is is split into 1 8 gauge fused to my mid/high amp and 1 4 gauge fused to my sub amp.

Here you can see the center console top bolted to the sub box and the Kenwood crossovers underneath just to the side of the sub.

Just a few questions...Have you upgraded to The Big 3 yet...? How many fuseholders do you have...? Did you scrape/scuff up the spot where you made your ground w/ the amp w/ the 3-30 amp fuses...?? What is the 8g power wire from battery terminal to fuseholder for...? ___________________________________________ M.E.C.P & First-Class
Go slow and drink lots of water..."My power wire is bigger then yours"... |

I have done larger grounds off the batteries. I have 2 since it is a diesel truck. I am doing the remaining 2 this weekend, just have not finished them yet. I have the wires made, but not installed yet. Been 103 here in Texas the last week or so.
I have 3 fuse holders, 1 main one at the battery, then 1 for the sub wire right after the dist box and 2 for the mid/high wire right after the dist box.
Yes the ground spots have been scraped of paint.
That wire is something I thought I would try based off of what I read somewhere (cant remember now). Read that if you have a larger current on that side of the fuse and the wire after the fuse shorts that it will pop the fuse faster. It makes sense, is this correct? So, I used a 2 gauge and an 8 gauge from the battery post to the fuse (about 4 inches total), then just 2 gauge through the firewall (used bushing) to the dist box. I sealed both sides of the fuse holder with cold wrap to keep it waterproof. |

| They're showing here. Are you behind a firewall? If so, have you checked your settings? ___________________________________________

| it's nice with diesel's cuz they usually have 2 battery's already definatly a nice stealth install!! with one 10" you shouldn't need to do to many power upgrades I wouldn't think anyway's. |
