| Hey guys i think i bit off more than i can chew trying to install a cd player. I've got an 05 kia amanti and i took the old cd player out and went to wire in the new cd player tonight. I ran into a problem that the new deck would turn on but no sound. I realized there is another plug that needs to be wired in somehow, probably has to do with the infinity sound? There are about 6 wires in the plug and if anyone knows where they belong i would appreciate it greatly, thanks! |

| Did you purchase the appropriate wiring harness for the vehicle? Did you connect the wire on the harness that was labeled Power Antenna? If not, you need to connect that wire to the Blue/White wire of your new deck. |

| The car does have an amplifier for an 8" sub, I'm planning on putting in a 12" sub in and keeping the 8" also im not sure. I did connect the power antenna wire, and all wires for that matter. When i bought the cd player, which is an alpine cda-105, they had me put my make and model down and sent me the wiring harness. I saw a number for the manu. of the harness, called it, and they said that they dont make one for my car. I have another number to call but they are closed. |

Connect the factory radio again, using a volt meter turn the radio on and test the voltage on the pink/black wire. if this wire has 12 volts on it when the radio is turned on, and 0 volts when the radio is turned off, chances are that this is the wire that turns the factory amp on. If you do find that the wire has 12 volts on it when the radio is on, you should connect this wire to the bue/white wire of your new radio. |

| The pink/black wire was from the alpine harness its not from the car. I think they sent me the wrong harness, somehow the factory amp isnt turning on. Does anyone know where this amp is located? |

Here is the audio info. Make sure your Orange/black wire in the Kia is getting 12 volts when your Alpine Radio is turned on. This is your amplifier turn on for the OEM amp.
Battery ORANGE (+) RADIO HARNESS
Accesory PINK (+) RADIO HARNESS
Ground BLACK (-) RADIO HARNESS
Illumination BLUE/BLACK (+) RADIO HARNESS
Amp Turn On ORANGE/BLACK (+) RADIO HARNESS
LF Speaker (+) RED
THESE WIRES SUPPLY THE AUDIO SIGNAL TO THE AMPLIFIER
LF Speaker (-) BLUE
RF Speaker (+) WHITE
RF Speaker (-) BROWN
LR Speaker (+) ORANGE
LR Speaker (-) BLUE
RR Speaker (+) ORANGE
RR Speaker (-) GREEN
Amp Location ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE TRUNK
Another thought, Alpine decks have both a Blue wire and Blue/White wire coming off the deck. The blue wire only has power when you are listening to the radio, so if you are testing the Alpine using a CD this wire has no power. If the blue wire is the one powering the Orange/Black wire in the Kia and if you happen to be testing the Alpine using a Cd. This could also be your problem. I know its a shot in the dark, but you mentioned the only wire not hooked up is the Pink/black in the Alpine harness....
You should tape off the Blue wire on the Alpine and only be using the Blue/White. The Blue/White wire has power the whole time the Alpine head unit is on, whether you are listening to radio/cd/ipod, etc. It only losses power when you shut off the Alpine unit or turn off the car.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Frank |
