I bought a wireless module off of eBay, and it works fine. It has a wire for an antenna (much like radio's in Hi-Fi systems). I was wondering if it's ok for me to extend this wire and connect it to the antenna pole that is used to receive the signal for the radio?
Would this work, or is it a bit of a stupid idea?

I basically want the antenna to be connected to something on the outside of the car so that I get the maximum range from the remote, otherwise the bonnet is in the way.

Thanks
Denno

What kind of wireless module are we speaking of, there are tons of wireless modules that can be installed in cars.

In general antennas are made a certain length for optimum performance. Shortening or lengthing them can and usually does degrade the antennas performance.

No

I would not attempt this and anything other than an effort based on a mathematically engineered formula will result in degradation for both your wireless and radio HU.

Place the unit in the usually suggested places and live with it.
