Hello, i had a few questions. i purchased a Clarion NX700 and finally got it installed. one of the features i really wanted to work superbly was the bluetooth. Unfortunatly for some reason its really poor quality when im talking on my phone. i bought it to conform with the law and like the fact that i dont have to hold my phone but if people cant hear me whats the point of having it? i have a 2000 silverado and i put the mic in a location i though was really good. straight forward between the gauges and the radio. i put it behind the dash plastic and cut slits in it so that the sound could get through easier but still the quality is poor. i was hopeing for a more stock quality not what im getting.
i also did a parrot CK3100 in my girl friends car. her mic is out in the open basically and its still not very good quality when you talk on the phone.
Is their a secret in setting it up? any advice would be greatly appreciated |

| I think you will have better results if you mounted the microphones where the headliner intersects the windshield. |

| I actually tried that and got nothing but wind noise. It's was worse than what I have now. Is there any way I can install a factory Cadillac Srx or CTS mic or something? |

Mics shouldn't be installed behind anything for best results. The best possible location is usually on top of the rear view mirror and pointed towards the driver. Keep the mic away from anything else that emits noise such as air vents and don't mount it on the windshield pillar. Many times noise issues are a result of the phones themselves. You should try adjusting the volume settings of the phone and mic to get better results. Many phones like Blackberry's also should have the "Echo control" settings turned on all the time. The default is automatic. The other thing to try is another phone. Not all phones are created equal and older phones don't have very good Bluetooth performance. You can also check to see if there are software updates for both the phone and the Bluetooth kit. If you are using the Parrot kit, there will likely be a software update on their website which will help.

| i will try the blackberry thing you suggest but my question is a little more difficult. ive paired up my phone with camaros and cadillacs and they seam to be fantastic but in my truck its just no where near that quality and i really would like to get somewhere close to those vehicles this way i can actually use it for what i bought it for. the updated drivers didnt do much btw. |

Sparkie wins the prize for the right answer here. Up high near the dome light/interior mirror.
Never semi flush, ALL of these mics are acousticly designed NOT to be hidden.
The Parrot 3100 mic has the best quality sound I've ever heard. Some one's done something really wrong to make one of those sound bad.

The Clarion also has a MIC volume control, have you set it ? I normally install the MIC onto the sunvisor facing the driver and it's only about 12-18 " away from the driver's head at most.

| As everyone else has said, up high, preferably where the windshield and headliner intersect is the best place for the mic, I worked for a cellular phone company as an installer for several years and this is where we always suggested. never had any problems with poor sound quality or wind noise in this location. |

WE always popped the front dome light great fun, not, on US built Benz MLs and ran the mic next to it so driver and front passenger could use it.
P.S. I thought for many years to flush fit the mics but technically they are designed to sit on top on their mounting bases.
