Yet again!
I answered that poster's request on my second reply having verified his alarm's lock colours.
I promise not to "rise to the bait" in future, I try not to but idiotic attitudes bring out the worst in me.
Against this two posters have praised me this week so I can't be doing so badly.
I'm probably in the top 3 for getting people out of problems on this site.
A Platinum member has audited/critiqued the offending post and emailed me about it giving his thoughts and permission to forward it to you if you are interested.
regards,
Howard. ___________________________________ Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first.

Howie. what did you do this time?
No good deed goes unpunished ............... I know when I get frustrated with a problem, I can get tunnel vision and not see the obious, and other pointing it out is annoying, but the point of comming here is to tap the vast amount of knowledge to solve problems. It is frustaring to have maybe 10% of the information and try to find a solution and the person thinking you were watching over their shoulder the whole time.
I've always enjoyed and appreciated your posts, maybe a couple of pints will help. If you need to vent, go for it, I'm sure there are many greatful readers here who will understand.
Cheers |

Ispker, the mods have blanked most of that thread, poster couldn't make locks work, I asked for the lock colours, he gave them to me, I gave a how to on the alarm and a what colour and where on the car, admitted slight confusion on the colours because Ford here changed their major loom colours about 6 times from 1970 to now, he wasn't listening, I told him how to trigger the locks then test the alarm lock outputs but he was far keener to show off his arrogance against my arrogance based on knowledge + I've probably done 100+ of that vehicle over the years.
He then got threatening whilst I got more insulting, from the vehicle, he's probably 20 years old, I might be 65, but I'm 6' tall and 210lbs. so that's silly, don't threaten someone you haven't met! Anyway I got canned though I gave the guy the correct answer! ___________________________________ Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first.

Alas the mods have deleted the poster's last threat reply (and without any note to that effect - IMO that is a worry; it is gone without any hint of its existence).
Whilst I think Howie was a bit rough in some of his comments, I can certainly understand it, but more so, IMO they were well and truly eclipsed by Howie's excellent information.
As lspker wrote, "It is frustrating to have maybe 10% of the information... "...
That is where Howie supplied the all information - and then some!
He took the time to describe various wiring (instead of delaying by asking what colors or models were applicable).
Howie even succinctly included extra info like "scotchlocks are bad" and which wires are NOT connected.
Howie's concern is of interest to me. Whilst I have been oblivious to members ratings (since I got off Rookie so I could "edit"), I was certainly not aware that demotions could occur for IMO "minor" and non-technical reasons.
I don't care about my rating, but that's not what I am here.
Whilst I might feel insulted if I noticed my demotion, I take it that a rating is of far greater important for others... (?)
I certainly never noted that haemphyst was demoted for his ridiculous technical assertions some years back (even though he apologised for and explained his rudeness) in response to my replies...
If he was demoted, then I may feel easier - but IMO that situation cannot be compared to Howie's - ie, Howie's advice was consistent with excellent knowledge & experience. |

Well you couldn't have been that bad eh?
It's a pity scbond's "last replay" was deleted by the mods.
If scbond can come back after a threat or comment like that... As I said, Howie couldn't have been all that bad.
So, yTF the demotion?
(Howard, I take it that you have not received any comment or guidance from the mods?
Is it just me that is confused else concerned by this action?) |

Ok Howard. I just reviewed the thread, no ill statements by you there, so i don't see why you got demoted. Were you platinum howard? I see your status as gold still. which is what i remember it to be. ___________________________________ Don't bash my opinion, just voice yours. |
