Hey there. We are an up and coming company called Extreme Auto Installations located in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. We specialize in fitting out Police vehicles. But are expanding our operations to cater for civillian vehicles. Darwin is a small city with a tropical climate. Clever talented installers that are out of work are really hard to find in this areas. If you have some kick ass talent and skills in car electrical accessory installations and would like to come and live/work in Australia send a resume to extremeautoinstallations@yahoo.com.au and we can go from there.
Cheers,
Carlos Aberasturi |

Just an aside Carlos, do NT Police or emergency vehicles use diode or MOSFET battery isolators when using dual batteries?
FYI - Vic Police don't - their Delco Memcal handles the battery connection (ie, via a relay).
The reason I ask is another forum where a one-off'er insisted on diode isolators and reckoned "all" emergency vehicles used them (Florida USA) and that relays were "NOT isolators" and were dangerous, etc etc.
I cannot find any authority recalcitrant enough to still be using diode isolators (except in certain specific cases).
And I still want to email the other poster to suggest why the majority no longer use diode or MOSFET isolators, and that I suspect he being misled by self-interested suppliers and certain sources with abnormal definitions. (His thread was a series of errors contradictions. EG - his alternator disconnected fully charged batteries (WRONG!); he had different voltages on his batteries (which was the original reason for one of his two threads, and is as expected with diode/MOSFET isolators) yet later he didn't...; and closing a relay between 2 batteries was dangerous (as is jump-starting vehicles (as I pointed out) LOL); and the power wasted on an energised relay (which backfired on him big time! ie, a 300W loss in a diode isolator versus up to ~25W for a relay.)
And best of luck with your endeavors. I hope you too crush the crap that is out there, and provide civies with superior or cheaper solutions. |

Don't worry - the sun is pretty strong in Darwin too! (Ha ha)
Besides, our (former) government stopped training since we could (apparently) import skilled people cheaper. (Ha Ha ha) |

As a pointed thought tomsniper asked for your email address but the OP had already posted it.
How well can he read a circuit diagram? ___________________________________ Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first.
Read the installation manual, do a search here for your vehicle wiring. |
