Those of you using this relay addition please be aware that if you have a remote start in your car or truck and have added this or the positive acc setup.
If you start your car or truck using the remote and then shutoff your car or truck using the remote, your acc will remain ON. You will find your car with a dead battery since you never opened a door using the remote start to shutoff the car.
You can make sure the acc is shutoff without having to open the door by supplying a neg or pos pulse depending on the setup your using to the door trigger.
Most alarms have a neg when rearm other means just make sure you rearm the alarm after a shutdown from remote.

Yes but only using this relay set-up. It doesn't happen with a "proper" R/S. ___________________________________ Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first.

Just confirmed what I said before, activate R/S, radio on, don't open any doors, turn off R/S, radio shuts down immediately.
You're right to suggest a mod for that diagram but in the real world who's going to use it, almost as cheap to buy a standalone R/S, come to think of it cheaper if you factor in the cost of the radio remote control Rx/Tx units to make it work, plus NO safety devices such as brake, hood, over-rev etc. ___________________________________ Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first.

I owe you an apology!
I didn't think it through because you weren't referring remote start set up just this part.
My only defence is that most R/S units have a built in RAP and you wouldn't need this module, having said that if you do use it I absolutely agree with what you say. ___________________________________ Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first.

My biggest complaint with this RAP setup is the fact that it does not have an auto time out, thus leaving the opportunity for dead batteries. ___________________________________ Kevin Pierson |

hahaha howie you funny...
I have a chevy 2000 silverado the bone stock version. I installed a alarm with remote start last year. then installed a popout dvd player with some JL Audio 10"s , 6"s a such. I found this site looking to actually finish up the alarm install by connecting the horn and domelight and needed some relay tips. Thanks for those by the way nice site here.
Well after going through the site i did notice all these replay kits. So i thought i would try a few. I have installed the RAP to my radio and i also installed that wiper diagram that i posted awhile back which works great. a few nights ago after installing these I remoted started my truck from inside the house to see if it would reach.
Well it did and I shut off the truck from inside the house as well. a few hours later i go out to have a cig (bad for you causes cancer) and can hear this low radio playing was wondering from where...... i could see the light from my stereo glowing in the cab.....OHHHHH CRAP. remote start didn't kill the relay setup listed here.
Some of us don't know all your little secret kits for the better way of doing things. maybe it would have been a good idea to list the way you would install these relay setups.... cause you can rest asure im not the only one using them.

OK, Jeff is it? It never occurred to me before your post because I never used this set up.
Every R/S I did had a built-in RAP as do some DEI alarms.
Having said that unless I'm missing something, from that diagram, how does grounding the green door trigger wire shut it down?
Can someone please enlighten me, I'm not being facetious, I actually can't follow it.
By the way it wasn't the cigs that got me it was a combination of the cigs and the leaded solder over 40 years. ___________________________________ Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first.
