Hello guys/gals!
A little preface:
I'm working on a project for my off-road club. One of our members will be racing in the 2012 King of the Hill competition. He expressed interest in having a multi-cam DVR installed to record the action.
I happen to have a complete system and was planning on installing it into my home. I am thinking about using this for a car application and hooking up the video-out to the DVD/Nav audio deck.
I have a Falco Pro Series 4-camera DVR. The power transformer converts 110/220 to 12vDC 3.5A.
My four cameras are powered by a splitter. The power transformer converts 110/220 to 12vDC 1.5A.
Since both transformers convert to 12vDC, I feel confident that I can just go to RadioShack, buy the correct plug, and wire both devices straight to a 12v power block that has a 5 Amp fuse.
So, here's my "12volt" question.
Since the DVR requires 3.5A and the camera power splitter requires 1.5A, should I run inline "something" to restrict the Amps to 3.5Amp (or 4Amp) and 1.5Amp (or 2Amp), respectively?
My thinking is: I don't want to many Amps to get back to the DVR or cameras and blow them out.
This is where I really need your guy's advice. :)
Thanks in advance!

I may have posted too soon. I think I know the answer. I don't need to do anything, right?!?
Since the car is "pushing" 12V and the devices need 12V, the Amp requirements on the devices is the "draw". The DVR will draw 3.5A and the cameras will draw 1.5A.
Am I correct?
