The red/black wire is a modulated ground and steady ground in normal operation.
It may work if you use a relay on the red/black wire to supply the ground instead. You will have to experiment to determine it appropriateness. Wire the relay as follows:
85 = red/black drl relay side
86 = +12V
30 = red/black headlight side
87 = chassis ground
87a = no connection
Install a diode across the relay terminals 85 and 86. The cathode (band side) of the diode should be connected to terminal 86 and the anode to 85. ___________________________________ This information is provided only as a reference.
