Hey guys,
My friend has a 2006 BWM 330i. He came to me the other day and wanted to upgrade his Halo lights to a 6watt brighter bulb. He also wants them to come on during the day without the parking side lights.
What I have found is people on forums are finding a switched power source and feeding the power to the lights on each side. But this is causing a LAMP OUT indicator on the dash. What they have been doing is using a 10w 6ohm resistor to fool the computer into thinking there is a light bulb still attached to the wire that feeds the halos..
MY QUESTION IS THIS:
I used the ground for the bulb and the switched power source power lead. instead of making a new ground and putting in a resistor to the POS and NEG of the original wiring..
Can I just run a diode to the positive side of the LAMP. So both wires are powering the lights? That way the computer will always see a 'working' bulb..
The resistors I hear run VERY hot. I think this may be a better way to do it..
What do you guys think?
