Hi All,

I am new here and a noob when it comes to car audio so be gentle :-)

Backstory:  The GF has a used 2006 escape.  It appears that the entire roof was at some point removed and then welded back on.  The radio didnt work when she bought the vehicle so she had an aftermarket stereo installed.  After the stereo was installed the rear speakers worked but the front did not.  She bought new front speakers and asked me to install them.  I tried to but when I got the door panels off I discovered that the wires leading to the front speakers were cut.  So now i have a bundle of cut wires to work with.

Help Needed:  I need to know what I need to do to get these darn speakers working again.  Is there a wire harness that I can buy and just splice into the cut wires or is there something more I need to do?

Thanks in advance for your input!

If your new speakers are aftermarket, they will have a smaller pin and a larger pin. The larger pin is positive and the smaller is negative. You can buy the correct terminals from any parts store, or they should have come with little pig tail harnesses if they are indeed new.

Either way I highly reccomend soldering the connections in the door, as they will see alot of moisture and can eventually get corroded and break.

If they are stock speakers, you will either have to find some plugs from a junk yard vehicle or solder wires to the correct side.

If you do not know which side of the stock speaker is positive, look at the rear and match them up with the correct colors below...

+12V DC Battery(Constant) Orange/lt.green 7 10 amp Junction box below center of dash
Switched Accessory Yellow/black 12 5 amp Junction box below center of dash
Brown/pink at radio pin no. 3 triggers the accessory delay relay.
Ground Black Audio unit pins no. 11 and no. 16, changing to black/lt.green below center of dash; black at pin no. 2 goes behind left side of dash.
Illumination Lt.blue/red
Factory Alarm Disarm Dk.blue/green
Parking Brake Lt.green/red
Reverse Lights Black/pink
VSS Wire Gray/black
Left Front + Orange/lt.green
Left Front - Lt.blue/white
Right Front + White/lt.green
Right Front - Dk.green/orange
Left Rear + Tan/yellow
Left Rear - Gray/lt.blue
Right Rear + Orange/red
Right Rear - Brown/pink
