I'm working on a 2009 Dodge Challenger race car. The customer brought me the car with the stock alternator mounted on the motor (6.3 Hemi). However, the car doesn't have the normal ECM that would ordinarily regulate the voltage for the alternator.
Some folks I've talked to say I must have an ECM to control the alternator but, I believe I can just wire in an early (stand alone) voltage regulator to make it work. The 2 wire connector on the back of the alternator calls for sense (12v batt?) and field.
Am I right or wrong? If I'm wrong can anyone offer solutions?
