On the Cobalt I am doing a starter in the key is a circle plus key. I would assume this is the newer hybrid system? VIN number says it is an 06, but I thought these did not start until 07... so the old resistor relay set up for the older passlock will not work right???

This info from Fortin :

Passkey 3+ Immobilizer
Equipped with a General Motors Passkey 3+ immobilizer which prevents the engine from running
unless a key with a valid transponder is present. The immobilizer system uses both the Passkey 3
and Passlock systems.

pick up an idatalink bypass. It will make everything a lot easier. (you need a data bypass for the locks anyways)
If you get the ADS-DLSL CA2 it will come pre-flashed with the firmware for that car. It will control all of the following through data:
Data Immobilizer (and passlock)
Factory arm/disarm
lock/unlock
trunk release
door status
trunk status
tach output
brake wire
ebrake status
RAP shutdown
Eata/Mux stater control

I just did an 08 a few weeks ago and other than the bypass I had originally gotten had the wrong firmware (wasn't quite the right bypass, but I had it laying around and I was hoping it was going to work) I ended up doing the entire install in about 1.5hrs; in 10*F weather, non-heated garage, minimal lighting, and completely frozen fingers... lol. I was so grateful I had that bypass.

I verified the locks and disarm wires in the center consel... so was looking at the ADS-TBSL-PL or the Fortin PATS-GM-2  just for the immobilizer????

I apologize, I was thinking the locks were data on that car. It all comes down to time vs money... what is worth more to you? The data bypass will save you some time, but the immobilzer only will most likely save you money.

the pats-gm-2 is going to be hard to find. I'm about 7h from the fortin head office, and they don't even have this module in stock anymore.

Tried getting a few last week.

pick up the fortin evo-can or idatalink piece. both will make your life easier, but cost a few bucks more.
