I have a Pioneer Premier 12 dual 4 ohm rated at 800 rms hooked up to a Kenwood KAC-7202. Im running it in parallel and am getting a burning smell when played at loud volume. Im using 4 gauge battery cable and ground wire. Not a burning smell that I am familiar with and I work around cars. Any help or suggestions apperciated.

| Also, the amp blows a fuse about every six months. |

Sounds like you are frying those voice coils. Make sure you set your gain properly (see the Hot Topics forum.) ___________________________________ Support the12volt.com |

| Why would it fry the voice coils if the woofer is rated at 800 rms and the amp puts out under 800? |

Because if your gain is set too high the amp is clipping and delivering much more than rated power as DC voltage. Check the How To thread in the Hot topics section and set your gain to the correct level and I bet it'll be fine. ___________________________________ Support the12volt.com |
