I have a JL xd300/1 mono amp with pre-amp outputs to hook up to another amp. If I want to add another amp/sub can I simply use these pre-amp outputs for the rcas and wire a power, ground and remote from the first amp right to the second amp? Meaning, do I have to run the power, ground, and remote from the 2nd amp separately?

As long as the power cable between your first amp and the battery (and also the ground) is large enough to safely supply the current required by both amps, there is nothing wring with doing what you suggest.
