I am going to install a remote start system on my '03 Intrepid. I got wire diagrams for this from Mr Install and it talks about the reader box and finding the sweet spot. Can someone give me more info as to getting this done so the remote start will work? Do I have to have a second key as well to make this work? If someone has any other helpful tips for this project I would really appreciate the advice. Thank you in advance. Tom |

i'm assuming that he is talking about tweaking a bypass module. You have to match the resistance. THis is assuming that your car requires a bypass module. Call a local shop, and find out if you need any external modules for a remote start.

| I really need some info a little less technical. This is my first install. How do I match the resistance? According to the directions I have say that I do have a reader box. |

I'm not even sure if you need to match the resistance. The following info is from designtech. It talks about needing a Universal Alarm Bypass Module (see notes at the bottom of "remote start info" ). try this one: electronic gift basket This one is nice because it does your door locks,parking lights, starter enable, panic, arming and disarming of factory security system, rear hatch and door status. Hate to tell you, but if you look at the **notes you'll see that you need a lot of resistors for your install otherwise. This will make your life so much easier. You didn't pick an easy one for your first install, but hey! this will make the next one seem like cake!!

| you do indeed need a security bypass moduel. You need it for remote starting so it tricks your car into thinking there is a key in the ignition.. I use bypass's made by Automobility, the one i use has a lock/unlock ,input/output, and a factory alarm arm/disarm, input/output, , , to program it you need 2 keys, , , unlike other security bypass units where you need to place a key into the bypass box and leave it there. |

I went to buy the resistors and am not sure which ones I need. I know what resistance is needed but I didn't know what the 1/4W, 1/8W, 1/2W and 1W. I'm not sure what I need or even if it matters.
