Remote Starter Wiring Colors and Notes |
Function | | Vehicle Color | Location | Start: | | Black/White (+) | Ignition switch harness | Ignition #1: | | Black (+) | Ignition switch harness* | Ignition #2: | | Black/Yellow (+) | Ignition switch harness | Ignition #3: | | red (Key Sense Wire) | *** | Accessory: | | Pink (+) | Ignition switch harness | Brake Light: | | Green/White (+) | Brake pedal switch | Tach Signal: | | White/Green (AC) | In harness at the ECM** | Parking Lights: | | Green (+) | Drivers kick panel | Headlights: | | N/A | | Diesel Glow Plug: | | N/A | | Clutch Bypass Wire: | | N/A | | NOTES: *This vehicle is equipped with a Transponder Anti-Theft security system. Use Universal Alarm Bypass Module part #2x402 where X can be any number. **The Engine Control Module (ECM) is behind the glove box, it is the module to the left of the glove box. *** The key sense wire will measure 12 volts all the time till you place the key inside the ignition switch and the key sense wire will ground. Connect the white/black wire from the unit (ignition 3) to the wire and that will disarm the OEM factory alarm. |
Alarm and Keyless Entry Wiring Colors |
Function | | Vehicle Color | Location | Constant +12 Volts: | | White & Blue/Yellow (+) | Ignition switch harness | OEM Alarm Disarm: | | Use key sense wire | | Dome Lights/Superv: | | Comes on with unlock | | OEM Horn: | | White/Red (-) | Steering column harness | Power Lock: | | See note below | *** | Power Unlock: | | See note below | *** | Trunk Release: | | N/A | | Alarm Input Wire: | | Comes on with unlock | | NOTES: ***See Installation Note #212 Modern Toyota Door Locks Diagram. Installation Note #212 Interfacing to Lexus and Toyota Door Lock Systems Toyota and Lexus have made radical changes to their door lock system. Gone are the days of simple negative trigger. In order to lock the doors you must now ground the lock wire while interupting the detection wire. To unlock the doors you must provide a negative trigger to the detection wire and the unlock wire at the same time - all this while keeping the wires completely isolated from each other. With the exception of the Highlander, Tacoma, and IS, the diagram below must be connected inside the PASSENGER door.

Hi Tblanning,
I think the link to the picture is pointing somewhere that we cannot view. (Looks like en E: drive by mistake)st? Can you please show us the picture?
Also any more information regarding alarming and remote starting the 2003 highlander would be most helpful.
Thank you so much,
Mark |
