The CEA has instituted a new amplifier rating system aimed at standardizing how amplifiers are rated. For years it bothered me that consumers have fallen victim to the high wattage not worth their cost in scrap metal amps. I think that this is a good step in the right direction for both the consumer as well as the 12volt industry its self. I was just curious as to how everyone else felt about the current ratings, as well as the future ratings system? Do you think they will start to put out a more honest reliable product? Do you think it will force some of the junk manufactures out of business? Will they just ignore the standard altogether? Here is an article in Mobile Electronics Magazine that goes into detail about the new standard http://www.me-mag.com/t_ci_pick.cfm?doList=2&sid=290

Looks like a great standard, and one that is definately needed.  I like the THD rating as a standard.  You are probably right, the crappy manufacturers will ignore it, but that would only mean to look for the CEA mark to know you are getting what you pay for... or at least ot have a better feeling that the listed ratings are true.  Some fly-by-night companies will still lie and forge the mark.
